Cairo Museum – Your Collection of How What and When

Do you remember the first time you visited a museum?

It must be a fond memory from your childhood when you had been to a local museum either with your family or on a school field trip. Walking down the long hallways with room after room filled with exciting antiques might still linger somewhere in your memories.

Whichever museum you may have been to or particularly remember always has that one special room that attracts you like a magnet. Isn’t it true? And you don’t mind spending hours together there or even going back again and again. There is a number of such rooms in the Egyptian Museum of Cairo but there was one such room that would have surely enticed you is that of the Royal Mummies Room. I am saying ‘was’ because very recently 22 such royal mummies were shifted to the Grand Egyptian Museum of Giza by a ceremony worthy of the royals during The Pharaohs' Golden Parade.

Names like Ramesses II, Amenhotep I, Seti I, and many more had found their final resting place in the Egyptian Museum, where the world came to pay their homage to the pharaohs.

You can never have enough of this museum. Your every step will be filled with wonders from the time you wished you belonged. The stories of the glorious past of Egypt fill every nook and corner of this place. The more you see, the more you will be earning to learn about the time which is only the whisper of the winds today.

From the gold chariot of Tutankhamen to the carefully wrapped mummies of animals like crocodiles and cats, from painstakingly handmade sarcophagi to the yellowed papyrus telling tales of a time that has marked history in ways we could not have imagined, again and again, the Egyptian Museum is indeed an Egyptian encyclopedia in itself.

Known to house world-famous relics, your visit to the museum will only end you up with questions. Questions of how, what, and when will follow you and you might end up wondering, “what if I did belong to that era?”
