Petra - A Child of Time

Time has forgotten to tick by here. Numb with surprise it just stares. You will too. That is all you could do. For here there is no past, there is no future. There is only one present. And in that present, you and Petra are the same. Both exist simultaneously.

Our existence on this planet may be just a blink of time. It is in that short moment that we live, that your visit to Petra will make you alive, like never before. You will be pulsating from the inside out as you make your way across the Siq to catch your first glimpse of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. You will come to realize that in the end there is always a beginning, just like in here. And maybe you will find your beginning too.

For someone who has never seen Petra, quoting John Burgon from his famous poem ‘Petra’ written way back in 1845, “a rose-red city half as old as time” might allow me to throw in the best description. Etched from the blush-hued rocks, Petra is a fantasy holding its secret close to its heart, only to reveal to those who believe in the magic.

Enchanting as it is, the more Petra reveals its secret the more you would want to absorb. For here more is never enough and you will end up only craving. It simply steals your breath. Shrouded in history going back to the 4th century, Petra has the ability to take you back in time while you remain in your present wondering how blessed you are to pay your homage to one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

So, while you are here, give your time to Petra and Petra will give you back the same to you. Because Petra is a child of time just like you.
