Until you venture out you will never know that different yet simultaneous parallel worlds exist among us. Hidden behind our plain sight. Only to reveal them to those who go out in search of them. The rhythm of life in such places reverberates at a different frequency than what we humans are used to. No this is no claim to any sci-fi existence. Born from the womb of Mother Nature these places are parts of nature but they are unlike everything that we know nature to be. Mawphlang Sacred Groves of Meghalaya is one such place.
Untouched unscathed and mainly undisturbed this forest echoes the ancient tunes from times before man even came to recognize its spiritual presence. Here the forest has remained unchanged for ages. The earthy scent mixed with that of trees and moss makes the air heavy. As for sound, there is practically none except for some chirping of hidden birds or a scurry of rodents. An unfathomable hush shrouds the place, to the extent that it almost reaches a divinity. The forest forms a cocooned canopy from all sides, making sure you leave your worldly feelings outside before entering here. You will know that this is no ordinary forest because Mawphlang is not only alive but it is pulsating with the most vital resource available on earth, life!
Centuries have passed while the lives of the local Khasi tribe have become intricately woven into this very land. Seeping deep in the soil to reach deeper into the roots and stretching high to touch the sky. It is here that their faith, religion and belief culminate to reach out to a greater being. Something that a common man may fail to understand unless they decide to visit Mawphlang. But when you do you will feel the invisible presence of something superiorly transcending than your soul.
