Step Pyramid - A Portal to Another Realm

Death is only the beginning, and it must be celebrated.

Very few of us realize that but ancient Egyptians knew otherwise. Today throughout Egypt there are reminiscences of the very faith that there is life after one pass over. They have intrigued the world like none other. And one such creation from the land of mysteries is the Step Pyramid of Djoser.

Right in the middle of nothingness in the archaeological site of Saqqara, you will find one of the prides of the land, the first-ever pyramid of the world. The pyramid is like the crowning jewel in the center of a large mortuary complex surrounded by ceremonial structures and complexes.

The landscape of Saqqara is undoubtedly intimidating. But remember in that very hostile environment creative genius of Pharaoh Djoser and his league of architects found their vent. Oblivious to the fact that one day their creation will be considered one of the world's greatest structures. Build in the 27th century BC during the Third Dynasty for the burial of the Pharaoh, the Step Pyramid is not only the culmination of innovative minds but also great art.

With 6 steps tapering towards the sky in perfect symmetry, it is mind-blowing to think that a labyrinth of tunnelled chambers and galleries runs below the surface for nearly 6 km! The burial chamber was strategically placed in the heart of the maze which unfortunately did not carry the last remains of the Pharaoh when discovered. Fearing that it had fallen prey to extensive robbing, all was lost, except the rich history of the time.

Time and degeneration had closed the gate of the Step Pyramid until very recently. However, the wait is over now. After 14 long years of restoration, the oldest pyramid of the world has started welcoming the mystery-hunters, travellers and like-minded curious people since March 2020 simply, to allow you into its depths of wonderment. So what are you waiting for?

Standing in that courtyard of the Step Pyramid with nothing but the sun, sand and perhaps a solemn solitude you might feel a little less scared or apprehensive about what happens after death. For remember there will always be the portal ready to take you to the other realm only if you choose to believe.
